Within just a span of one year since its establishment, automotive fabless startup BOS Semiconductors has successfully attracted over 10 billion Korean Won in investment from investors.

BOS Semiconductors announced that it has recently raised investment in its Series Pre-A round through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) contract. Hyundai Motors, Kia, STIC Ventures, K& Investment Partners, ATP Investment, IP Partners and Lighthouse Combined Investment participated as investors. The company plans to finalize its Pre-A round in the latter half of this year.

BOS Semiconductors is a fabless startup that designs high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) semiconductors for vehicles. With the founding team’s extensive experience in semiconductor design and development, the company possesses various chip design technologies necessary for the development of high-performance, low-power semiconductors, including functional safety, reliability, high-speed interface and artificial intelligence (AI) features required for autonomous driving. With these competitive strengths, the company aims to grow as a leading domestic fabless player competing with global top players.

To achieve this goal, BOS Semiconductors plans to strategically cooperate with Hyundai Motor Group to develop customized high-performance semiconductors required for mobility innovation and successful transition away from mature and legacy processes in automotive semiconductors. As one if its mid- to long-term goals, the company aims to develop a 'Super SoC' that integrates the various features in future vehicles into a single SoC. The company is developing SoCs for autonomous driving, high-performance computing and gateway in succession to reach this goal.

With this latest investment, BOS Semiconductors will focus on recruiting exceptional research and development (R&D) talent and strengthening its strategic collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group.

Jaehong Park, CEO of BOS Semiconductors, stated, "This investment will greatly help secure a foundation for early-stage growth of our business," and added, "Through the successful development of high-performance semiconductors that are required for future cars, we will take important steps to grow into a global company."
